A large urban school district reached out to Ed Direction initially to receive basic professional development to improve the use of data to make informed decisions across the district. This professional development led to Ed Direction rewriting the school improvement process within the district, and providing not only professional development, but also direct coaching to leaders, school improvement teams, and PLC leaders. The strong relationship between Ed Direction and this large urban school district led to three straight years of dedicated partnership, where the senior leadership team in the district worked hand in hand with the Ed Direction team to transform its 50+ schools.
Over a three year period, the performance of nearly all the district’s schools improved dramatically. Nearly half of the schools now have A grades (a 300% increase). Moreover, only six schools now have “D” or “F” grades, which has decreased from 15 schools. In fact, the improvement in this large urban district has been so impressive that the district received the Data Quality Campaign’s top national award, for its use of data to improve student achievement.
